Pen & Trading Booth

Welcome to the Pen and Trading Booth, a little feature that allows you to get rid of and obtain new or lightly used Pokémon without having to do much in terms of roleplaying a capture! Located on the Wyndham Ranch (and behind the barn) is a vast fenced area filled with all kinds of Pokémon, either bred by Artemis himself or left there by kind strangers. Getting one or leaving one is simply a matter of starting a new thread in our Pen and Trading Booth post (on the log community) in order to work your way up to coaxing Artemis into handing over or taking on your Pokémon.

So, to put it simply, here's how it works.

Leaving a Pokémon

If you wish to leave a Pokémon on the ranch, simply post a new comment to the P&T to bring your character and the Pokémon they wish to ditch to the Wyndham Ranch. Artemis will come around and interact with your character until your character finally decides to leave. He'll then put the Pokémon in the booth, where it's officially up for grabs.

Do not start a new thread in the middle of a scene. Ever. Your comment WILL be deleted.

Taking a Pokémon

If you wish to get a Pokémon for whatever reason through this method, look carefully at the lists of available Pokémon on the P&T post. There will always be an abundance of the starters listed, but the pound beneath it will always change, depending on who deposits or adopts what. Occasionally, there will only be starters available.

In any case, once you see a Pokémon you want, start a new thread the same way you would if you were leaving a Pokémon. The same procedure will occur until your character walks away from the booth with a new Pokémon in hand.

Please note that Artemis will not give your character one of the starters if you're not a starting trainer. Additionally, his player won't respond to your comment if you've started a new thread in the middle of a scene, even if the old thread was getting cluttered.

Trading Pokémon

If you wish to trade, you can either do so the old-fashioned way ("Here's my Pokémon. Take good care of it!"), or you can do it with a special trading device in Artemis' workshop. (Don't worry. It's perfectly safe.) If you wish to use this method, you and your trading partner (if there is one) should arrive at the ranch the same way you would if you were taking or leaving a Pokémon by yourself. Please provide a trade agreement (i.e., proof that you and your partner have talked this over) in the OOC community prior to attempting a trade in the P&T.

Breeding/Taking Care of Pokémon

Occasionally, Artemis will even allow you to use his facilities, either to take care of a Pokémon temporarily or to breed a Pokémon with another. As always, create a new thread to start roleplaying until your character leaves their Pokémon in Artemis' care.

If you want Artemis to breed your Pokémon, he can only do so either with a Pokémon you have, one that's listed as available in the pound or starter list, or one that he has himself. He can't randomly produce a Pokémon of the same species as the one being bred. Once you make your selection as to who the parent is, please note that it takes at least a day for an egg to be laid. When you come to pick it up, please start another new thread to do so.

If you want Artemis to take care of your Pokémon, similarly, roleplay leaving it at the ranch, and create a new thread to pick it up when you wish to take it again. Until then, Artemis will canonically have your Pokémon, and you give him permission to use it for whatever reason. Also, any Pokémon that isn't picked up after a month (unless the player has given a valid reason for a prolonged absence) will be considered abandoned and put in the pound, so please remember to pick up your Pokémon.
